The upcoming product is expected to help users control smart home devices, play media, answer questions and respond to messages. OpenAI is reportedly designing it to feel more natural than conventional voice assistants and to gradually adapt to its owner’s habits and needs.
The device is expected to use advanced GPT-Live voice technology, enabling smoother conversations, simultaneous listening and responding, and better contextual understanding. In addition to a speaker, it is reportedly set to include a camera, other sensors and a rechargeable battery, allowing users to move it easily between rooms.

Development Is Accompanied by a Legal Dispute With Apple
OpenAI strengthened its hardware ambitions through the $6.5 billion acquisition of start-up io Products. The project also involves Jony Ive’s design studio LoveFrom and several former Apple employees who previously worked on the development of iPhones and Mac computers.
