Dollar millionaires hold half the world, the study found

Money are distributed among people very unevenly

A narrow group of 22.1 million dollar millionaires held more than half of the world’s private finance last year, according to a study by the international consulting company Boston Consulting Group (BCG). The other half was shared by the remaining 7.6 billion people on the planet. Even in 2015, dollar millionaires owned only 43 percent of global financial assets.

Total private property increased by 1.6 percent to $ 205.9 trillion. But the number of dollar millionaires grew faster – an increase of 2.1 percent.

North America has the strongest inequality. In the United States and Canada, dollar millionaires own 65 percent of the $ 72.8 trillion of private-funded funds.

According to the study, property differences in the second richest region of the world, which is still Western Europe, are slightly weaker. There millionaires own only 41 percent of all private finance.

The year 2018 was not very encouraging for the wealthy. In the second part, stock prices fell, which was one of the main reasons for the relatively weak growth in global financial assets. In 2017, it increased by 6.2 percent year-on-year.
