Lanai, Hawaii

We are ending with the most expensive private island. Billionaire Larry Ellison, who owns Oracle, purchased almost all of Hawaii’s sixth largest island — Lanai. Lanai is also known as “Pineapple Island” because it used to be considered the world’s top supplier of pineapples. Ellison is the thirds richest person in the U. S. and the sixth richest in the world according to Forbes. He bought the island from David Murdock for 300 million dollars and now Lanai has a price around 500-600 million dollars.

He plans to transform the island into a luxurious tourist destination but at the same a better place for locals to live because Lanai is home to 3 000 people. He wants to include renewable sources of energy, charging stations for electric cars and fields for growing organic products.
